A Republican candidate for Virginia Governor was in Charlottesville Thursday sharing his opinion of City Council and Vice Mayor Wes Bellamy.
Local blogger, Jason Kessler held a press conference Thursday morning, to announce the completion of a petition to recall Bellamy over offensive tweets he sent before taking office.
City Council has supported Bellamy in the wake of the tweets being released.
Gubernatorial candidate Corey Stewart spoke during the conference, calling Bellamy a bigot, and denouncing City Council for voting to move a statue of Robert E. Lee.
City Counselor Kristin Szakos said she’s unsure of Stewart’s motivation in reaching into local politics.
