The General Assembly has approved a bill allowing the sale of 151-proof alcohol in the state.
The Daily Progress reports HB1842 will allow state liquor stores to sell neutral grain spirits up to 151 proof, or 75.5 percent alcohol.
Similar legislation was introduced in 2016 but vetoed by Governor Terry McAuliffe.
Critics of the bill say it will encourage binge drinking and other problems on college campuses.
