(Metro) South Korea is proposing rare military talks with North Korea.
The South's vice defense minister said Monday that the talks would be aimed at ratcheting down tension on the Korean peninsula, tension that's been on the rise after months of missile tests by the North.
The minister said the talks could be held at the demilitarized zone, the heavily fortified border area between the two countries which are technically still at war.
Pyongyanghas yet to respond to the overture.
