The fall fire season begins in the Commonwealth on October 15, and officials at the Virginia Department of Forestry are reminding everyone to be cautious.
Officials say the threat of wildfire increases each autumn as leaves dry out and fall from trees, grasses turn brown, humidity levels drop and winds increase.
If you accidentally start a fire that gets out of control, you can be held responsible for the damages.
