(Metro) Americans are expected to empty billions of dollars from their pockets this Fourth of July holiday.
The National Retail Federation's annual survey has found that those celebrating will be spending an estimated six-point-two billion dollars on food products alone this year.
The average household is expected to spend 68 dollars and 16 cents on burgers and snacks to enjoy.
Two out of three plan to celebrate with the help of food, and less than half say they'll be watching fireworks.
Traveling is up particularly among young people.
Twenty percent of Millennials say they'll be taking a trip for the holiday.
