(Metro) Japanese-led scientists are the first to film live images of a giant squid.
The images of the ten-foot-long creature, thought to have been the inspiration behind the myth of the tentacled monster the "Kraken," were taken last July about 620 miles south of Tokyo.
The squid comes in short of the largest ever caught, at ten feet. However, researchers say filming it secretly in its natural habitat is vital to understanding the animal.
