(Metro) Governor Bob McDonnell's tax plan to fund transportation is meeting opposition from the Virginia Legislative Black Caucus.
The governor is proposing to raise the state's sales tax and do away with the gas tax to pay for transportation.
State Senator A. Donald McEachin of Henrico says that would take money away from schools and first responders as well as taking money used to help seniors.
McEachin emphatically said yesterday "As far as this caucus is concerned, this plan is dead on arrival."
