37-year old Jessica Lewis is sentenced to two years in jail for a 2011 car crash that killed her daughter and ex-husband.
The families of Lewis and her ex-husband traded words outside of Albemarle County Circuit Court Wednesday.
Prosecutors tried to prove Lewis was under the influence of marijuana at the time of the crash but were unsuccessful.
Lewis’s family maintains her ex-husband and daughter were possibly on drugs and distracting Lewis when the car crashed.
Assistant commonwealth's attorney Jon Zug said “Nobody wins. Nobody ever wins in any of these cases."
Judge Cheryl Higgins ordered Lewis to repay funeral expenses to Johnson's family when she is released.
