City Council Considers Defense Spending Resolution

The Charlottesville City Council is considering a resolution against increased national defense spending.

Authored buy city council member Kristin Szakos, the resolution entitled "Fund Human and Environmental Needs, Not Military Expansion," and claims Charlottesville residents already pay $112.62 million in federal taxes for defense spending.

The resolution is a reaction to the President Trump plan to increase defense spending by $54 billion.

City council will discuss the resolution tonight at their Monday night meeting.
